Hello all,
This post may seem weird, but it makes sense to me.
On Oct. 23, 1986 i started mt training in Chinese Martial Arts at the Siamese Shaolin Kungfu Institute which at that time was located in Minquidale, Newcastle. I can still remember it as if it were yesterday. One of my 1st teachers at the time "Teacher Kenny" hammered the basics into me for 5 months straight, which also included heavy conditioning of my cardio, fist, shins, insane bag work, and the infamous instep kicking drill. This drill consisted of getting a full size heavy bag and moving up the length of the entire training floor ( which is about as long as our training floor is now) by executing an inward thrust, and thats with a floor thats carpeted it took me awhile to get it to move at all. but i finally got it going and once i did there was no stopping me. Grandmaster James Allen who is like a 2nd father to me gave me tons of insight into combat, conditioning, and life perspectives. He would quite often pull me aside during class and use me as a partner to explain a chin na, or a flow drill , or a trapping and redirecting drill, or any number of techniques. He gave me the nickname "LittleTiger" because i was the shortest guy there, however i was one of the most aggressive. The lessons and guidance from Grandmaster Allen and the other Siamese instructors gave me alot of the tools and training ethics that i have today, not to mention my intense spirit.
Sorry it's kinda long..i'm long winded what can i say.
However hopefully one day the students of our school will be able to celebrate a 20 th kungfu b-day, and then you can share some of your fond memories. Well until next time...Train Hard, Train constantly, whether it be physical, or mental...and most importantly..Never, Never, Never, Give Up..
Sincerly,
SH James
